The project was a concept environment created using Blender. The project experimented with a brighter, surreal colour palette in a realistic setting.
As a space, I chose the aesthetic of a city in America in the early 1930s. While the environment was dominated for the most part by surreal tones of pink, I created objects and spaces such as the blue car, the alley and the tram to break the monotony and add variety to the composition. As seen in previous projects, the volumetric fog was used to create atmospheric and moody lighting scenarios. Eevee, Blender's in-built real-time render engine was used to render the composition.
PROCESS & DEVELOPMENT
“Inspiration for the scene’s lighting came from listening to Jazz music.”
Unlike, the conventional approach of using visual references, inspiration for the warm, atmospheric lighting came from listening to Flamenco Sketches, a song by Jazz legend Miles Davis. An earlier exploration of the space featured a more stylized approach to the scene’s 3D components. Eventually, I decided to create a realistically detailed and rendered environment.

In addition to using volumetric fog in the environment, A setup was created for the sky, composed of various layers of clouds and distance fog. The shaders were composed of procedurally generated noise textures where parameters could be changed to alter the patterns, opacity and colours of clouds created.
